FTP

Field Training Program

The Field Training Program (FTP) is a structured, hands-on training process designed to transition cadets from the academy environment into fully functional correctional officers. During this phase, cadets are paired with experienced training officers who provide direct supervision, mentorship, and real-world instruction inside a correctional facility.

The program focuses on developing practical skills, reinforcing policy and procedure, building confidence in daily operations, and exposing cadets to inmate management, security protocols, emergency response, and communication techniques in a controlled setting.

Through continuous evaluation and feedback, the FTP ensures each cadet demonstrates competency, professionalism, and sound decision-making before advancing to solo status.

Emergency Response Team

The Emergency Response Team (ERT) is a specialized unit within the Department of Corrections tasked with responding to high-risk and critical incidents within correctional facilities. This division is composed of highly trained personnel equipped to manage volatile and potentially dangerous situations that exceed the scope of standard operations.

ERT is responsible for handling high-risk inmate transports, in-custody assaults and stabbings, disturbances, and other emergency situations that pose a threat to the safety and security of staff, inmates, and the facility.

Operating with precision and discipline, ERT provides immediate intervention, containment, and control during emergencies while restoring order and minimizing risk.
